Hints at what was to come

I can tell you when I had my kapow moment!! The moments that led up to my path deviating somewhat, the turning point...

April 2021 saw me as a member of the harvest crew for Chard Farm Winery🍇. I recall chatting to my Dad about how much I was enjoying my time amongst the vines, clutching my secateurs day after day in the beautiful autumn light, snipping voluptuous bunches of grapes into my bucket. And filling up my 'soul' bucket at the same time. I was reveling in it, loving the physical work and loving being outside. It was such a change from being tucked behind a desk or a laptop.

Dad reminded me of the era in our family when we had an orchard...a good 25-30 years ago. I'd be his right hand gal on the tractor, picking fruit, hauling crates. Dad's a pharmacist. It's not often you get people coming in to a pharmacy for fun - they usually have an ailment of some sort, something that needs fixing. Forever dispensing advice, Dad's mental health scheme was the orchard. This was his 'filling up the soul bucket' time. Being outdoors in clean air and comforting green spaces, following the rhythm of the seasons. Boom! 💥 I never knew...but goodness this made sense.

And so when I said that I had been digging into a new direction - backyard flower farming, he wasn't surprised. In fact what he said gave me so much clarity.

I’m in a cycle of learning, refining, researching, improving, adjusting and absorbing. I’m always wanting more and just love getting my hands dirty! It’s a constant experiment in an environment that is never stable. But that’s nature isn’t it?
